FIELD DAY WITH THE AARA

June 1982 found the club doing Field Day from the banks of the Tommy Hooks Pond. Using the club's emergency power diesel generator, & two rigs. Look close in pic #1 and you can see the club's tri band beam on the portable crankup tower, with an all band vertical down by the water's edge for the other bands, we were set to go. Lani W4VIR's Triumph TR-6 was parked up by the generator and the K4VBH tent is set up away from the QRM. Richard WD4BID was on the night-owl shift, he always wanted to work the bands from midnight till sunup. We worked a lot of stations and I have the FieldDay logbooks.....somewhere. :) Bill WA4RDO got the grill cooking down by the water's edge and the club along with several members furnished the "eats".

Maybe we could do a "re-enactment" of this Field Day next year. Sadly we're all living on the fast track and don't get to do this as much as we'd like too...but we can TRY!
